Understanding Laser Hair Removal

Ouch! You know that you're tired of the same old same old with your hair removal routine. Let's be real. You go to shave your legs (or chest or, wink, wink, other body parts) right before that big date and end up bleeding like crazy with a bunch of tissues sticking to your legs. Waxing makes you feel like your skin was removed for some ill-intentioned spell.

You practically need to be tipsy on Rosé to use an epilator to pluck out all of your unwanted hair. Sugaring sounds like such a sweet method of hair removal but ends up just being a sticky sweet mess. Why does hair removal have to be such a pain? It almost makes you want to reclaim your body hair and just be done with it.

Almost. But what if there's a better way?

Let me tell you a little secret: Peach Skin & Laser's laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to handle your unwanted hair without the hassle for men and women.

Laser hair removal uses focused diode energy to precisely target and zap and destroy hair follicles in the anagen phase. This results in long-term smooth skin. Our recommended series of treatments will effectively reduce 90% of your hair.

A very important question is, how much does it cost? This will really depend on each person but we have a few general rules that give you a good idea. Each area will cost approximately $60 - $90 per appointment. Most people will need 6 to 12 sessions with 4-6 weeks in between each appointment. Total costs can range from $360 - $720 for a complete series. Peach Skin & Laser offers pay-as-you-go plans, monthly payment plans, and discounts on multi-area packages.

Who Qualifies for Laser Hair Treatment?

You may have heard that only certain people with light skin and dark hair qualify for laser hair treatment. However, with the advances in technology and the different lasers available, more people can be eligible for laser hair treatment. Talk with our friendly staff regarding what results you can see based on your skin tone, hair color, and treatment options.

Getting Ready for Your First Visit:

Make sure to follow a few steps before your visit for the best, safest results.

  • The first thing is to make sure that there have been at least two weeks between your first appointment and the last time you went tanning, sunbathing, waxed, or had any kind of injections or chemical peels. Your skin will thank you.
  • You also don't want to apply any kind of lotion or other chemicals to any areas that are being treated, for instance, no deodorant if you're having your underarms tended to.
  • Avoid taking aspirin, some herbal supplements, and anti-inflammatory drugs because they can cause issues with bleeding during treatment.
  • 24 hours before your appointment, you are going to want to shave the area or areas that we are going to treat. Remember, strictly shaving! No waxing, plucking, or depilatory creams. We will need the root of the hair for an effective treatment.

What happens during the appointment?

Don't worry. We've got you taken care of. Your eyes will be protected with special glasses and our staff may also apply a topical anesthetic to your skin to reduce any discomfort you may feel during the procedure. In addition, we'll use a cooling gel on your skin or a cooling device on the instrument to help further protect your delicate skin.

Once safety is taken care of, it's time to get to the hair removal business. We use a gentle hand-held laser FDA-approved handpiece applied directly to your skin. The laser beam targets the hair follicles. By heating up and damaging the follicles, they lose the ability to grow hair. Treating small areas, such as the upper lip, only requires a few minutes per treatment of your time. Larger areas may require up to an hour per treatment to get all the follicles.

Laser Hair Removal Post Care & Results

Consider these steps for a smooth and speedy recovery.

  • Stay out of the sun. If you are planning to have prolonged exposure to the sun rays, you must apply SPF 30. Treatment complications are not fun and we want you to have a smooth post-treatment experience.
  • You can shave in between appointments, but always avoid waxing, threading, or tweezing the treatment area two weeks before your appointment.
  • Avoid hot showers and any harsh exfoliants for 2-3 days after your treatment.
  • Irritation, redness, and itching is common. Don’t panic. If there is anything that concerns you, contact our clinic for more information or further instruction.

We all know that you want to see the best results.

Your results may vary based on your skin tone, hair color, and treatment plan. Our treatment plans typically involve a series of 6 to 12 treatments spaced out over a few weeks. You may not notice results with the first few treatments; that's okay. It takes a bit for some hair follicles to stop doing what the body tells them to do. Plus, depending on your hair, you may need to have occasional maintenance treatments over time.
